E.V. haunts party for Halloween

With Halloween around the corner, East Valley nightspots are pulling out all the stops — from oxygen bars to an ’80s metal cover band to countless costume contests — to show you a spooky good time. Throw on your best costume and head out to one of these Get Out-approved events this week:

FRIDAY

HALLOWEEN BLOCK PARTY
Stetson Drive between Drinkwater Boulevard and Wells Fargo Avenue, Scottsdale, Downtown Scottsdale bars Martini Ranch, Maloney's, 6, Drinx and DJ's will host the first annual Stetson Drive Halloween block party with a costume contest, drink specials and performances from Valley ’80s metal cover band Metalhead and Punk Rock Nation. 8 p.m. $15-$20.

MASQUERADE BALL
Del Sol Reception Hall, 243 S. Mesa Drive, Mesa, Literary nonprofit group Anthology, Inc., is hosting a masquerade ball for ages 18 and older with live music from Valley rock acts Lunchbox Superheroes, She Screams 3 and Busticles. There will also be performance poets and a costume contest. 8 p.m. $10.

HALLOWEEN FANTASY BALL
The Sets, 93 E. Southern Ave., Tempe, Valley promoters Trash City are throwing an industrial, fetish, erotic, Gothic bash with industrial dance music, DJs, live music (from Auralast, Vaeda, The Strange Family Circus and Sourmind), a hookah den, oxygen bar, disturbed art gallery, tarot card readers and bondage wear and fetish fashion show. 8 p.m. $10 before 10 p.m. and $20 thereafter. $75 for VIP tickets.

A WICKED NIGHT AT THE WRIGLEY
The Wrigley Mansion, 2501 E. Telewa Trail, Phoenix, The 18,000-square-foot mansion will be decked out for this Halloween event, which will feature a DJ, dancing, live music from Valley pop band The Scones and rock group EastonAshe, drink specials, tarot card readers, psychics and a costume contest. 8 p.m. $45.

HILLBILLY HALLOWEEN
Yucca Tap Room, 29 W. Southern Ave., Tempe, Americana and country artist Dave Insley and the Careless Smokers will headline a Halloween party at the Tempe haunt. Honky-tonk country band The Cartwheels will open. Patrons are encouraged to dress up. 9:30 p.m. No cover.

THE DADDY HORROR PICTURE SHOW
Sugar Daddy's, 3102 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, The Scottsdale patio bar will host a four-night celebration with live music , DJs and drink specials The Black Moods will perform Friday. DJ Devine will spin Saturday. The bar will host an open mic night on Sunday and DJ M2 will spin on Monday. Although the club is encouraging patrons to dress up all four days, it will have a costume contest on Monday. 9 p.m. Friday through Monday. $2.

SATURDAY

MASQUERADE EROTIC BALL
e4, 4282 N. Drinkwater Blvd., Scottsdale, The chic new dance club will host a masquerade ball with exotic dancers, drink specials and a DJ. The bar will provide masks for those who don't bring their own. 8 p.m. $30-$50.

HALLOWEEN BASH
Last Exit, 1425 W. Southern Ave., Tempe, Led Zeppelin-esque rockers the Black Moods will headline the live music venue's Halloween party. Mossy Rocks and Kingfish Fiasco will open. Prizes will be awarded to the three best costumes of the night. 9 p.m. $5.

FIFTH ANNUAL GHOST BALL
Axis/Radius and Suede, downtown Scottsdale, Posh clubs Axis/Radius and Suede are teaming up for a joint block party with five DJs, live music from Metal Ikon and Fast Times and a costume contest for the sexiest costume, best overall costume and best group costume. 8 p.m. $20-$30.

HALLOWEEN BALL
The Clubhouse Music Venue, 1320 E. Broadway Road, Tempe, Rock acts Siop, Vistalance, Brew Crew and Building Bridges will perform at the music venue's Halloween bash. There will also be a costume contest. 7 p.m. $7 with a costume and $10 without.

SIN CITY
Myst, 7340 E. Shoeman Lane, Scottsdale, The chic dance club will be transformed into Sin City (Basin City from the film “Sin City”) for this movie-themed party. DJ J. Alan will spin a mix of hip-hop and rock, and there will be a costume contest. 9 p.m. $10.

HALLOWEEN BASH
Graham Central Station, 7850 S. Priest Drive, Tempe, The large bar, which features four diverse rooms with entertainment ranging from karaoke to country music, will mark the weekend with a costume contest and drink specials. 6 p.m. No cover with costume until 8 p.m., $6 thereafter.

ROCKY HORROR HALLOWEEN BALL
The Sets, 93 E. Southern Ave., Tempe, Check out a screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at midnight during this Halloween Ball, which will also feature disco DJs, karaoke, dancing, an oxygen bar, art show and a costume contest. 8 p.m. $10.

HAUNTED HALLOWEEN COSTUME BALL
Fort McDowell Casino, 10424 N. Fort McDowell Road, on the reservation, no city The casino will give away $11,000 in cash prizes during its costume contest. Las Vegas disco band Love Train will perform and there will be food and drink specials throughout the night. 8 p.m. Free.

BE WATCHA LIKE BASH ON ASH COSTUME BALL
Bash on Ash at McDuffy's, 230 W. Fifth St., Tempe, The ball will include a DJ and a costume contest where people can win cash and prizes. 9 p.m. $10 with a costume and $15 without.

HALLOWEEN CHAMPAGNE PARTY
Barcelona, 15440 N. Greenway-Hayden Loop, Scottsdale, Partygoers will receive a complimentary glass of champagne at the chic Halloween party, which will also include a DJ, live music, dancing and a costume contest where people can score $3,000 in cash and prizes. 7 p.m. No cover for guests in costume.

RETRO HALLOWEEN PARTY
Anderson's Fifth Estate, 6820 E. Fifth Ave., Scottsdale, Mix 96.9 FM will host a retro Halloween party at the club with a costume contest ($100 for first prize and $50 for second prize) and giveaways. 9 p.m. $5.

ROCKIN’ HALLOWEEN PARTY
Upper Deck Sports Grill, 4224 N. Craftsman Court, Scottsdale, Rock cover band T.A.T.E. will perform during the club's Halloween party, which will also include a costume contest with cash prizes. 9 p.m. $2.

BLESSEDBETHYNAME HALLOWEEN SHOW
The Venue of Scottsdale, 7117 E. Third Ave., Valley industrial rock act Blessedbethyname will headline a Halloween-themed performance. SixStitch, Selfless, Autumn's End, Abigail Williams and Terror in the Aisles will also perform. There will also be a costume contest and CD giveaways. 6 p.m. $12-$14.

HAUNTED HOUSE ON THE BEACH
The Sandbar, 10050 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, The Sandbar will be transformed into a haunted house for a party that will include drink specials and a costume contest with cash prizes ($500 to the best overall costume, $250 to the sexiest and best group costume). 9 p.m. No cover for women and $5 for men.

SUNDAY

HALLOWEEN HILLBILLY HO-DOWN
The Rhythm Room, 1019 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, Bob Log III, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, Scott H. Birham and Honky will perform at this concert. There will also be pudding wrestling on the patio by the Renegade Roller Girls. 8 p.m. $12.

MONDAY

BOO BOMB
Arizona Beach Club, 430 N. Scottsdale Road, Tempe, Hip-hop artists Pretty Ricky, Chris Brown and Ray J. will take the stage during Power 92.3-FM's Halloween concert. There will also be a costume contest and games. 8 p.m. $20.

PIRATES ’N WENCHES
Drift Restaurant & Tiki Bar, 4341 N. 75th St., Scottsdale, The bar will host a pirate-themed blowout with a costume contest, drink specials and a raffle where people can score a trip for two to Las Vegas. Costumed bargoers will receive a complimentary cocktail when they donate a new bra or new or used belt to the HomeBase Youth Services. 8 p.m. $5.
