Tempe guitar legend
is all rock ’n’ roll

Guitarist Steve Larson has been slinging his six string in some of the Valley’s best bands for nearly two decades.

Larson played with Tempe faves Dead Hot Workshop (Local spotlight) for a decade beginning in the late '80s, playing on the band’s seminal work of the ’90s, before joining up with former Refreshments singer/songwriter Roger Clyne in Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers at the close of the 1990s.

Influenced by such diverse artists as Waylon Jennings, Lynyrd Skynyrd and AC/DC, Larson’s signature licks owe as much to country as rock, and with his own Steve Larson Band, Larson has released the strong “Road Trip Songs.”

When not on tour with Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, Larson plays solo acoustic shows Monday nights at Mardi Gras in Scottsdale.

A: A canary yellow 1976 Ford F-150 long bed. I got it when my stepdad Milo died. I paid my mom $1,000 for it.

Q: Name five things you can’t live without.

A: Food, water, oxygen, the sun and my parents.

Q: What’s your favorite local hangout?

A: The TT Roadhouse.

A: Doesn’t lust just mean you crave sex? In that case, greed!

Q: What TV show do you watch the most?

A: Jimmy Kimmell Live
