Chandler Ostrich Festival

Ostrich Festival parade

It’s not a party without a parade; luckily, the organizers have scheduled one to begin 10 a.m. Saturday to help kick off the weekend’s events at the Chandler Ostrich Festival.

The route down Arizona Avenue begins at Ray Road and continues south to Chicago Street, a block south of Dr. A.J. Chandler Park. Bring lawn chairs for optimum comfort during the parade.

Some perennial participants will be back, including the El Zaribah Shrine – funny hats! funny cars! – and Chandler high school marching bands. Other entries to watch for include the Wells Fargo horse-drawn stagecoach, Miss Indian Arizona and the Sun City West Jazzy Poms***, a group of 60- to 80-year-old women who still have the boots (and figures!) to march as a pom squad.
