On a recent Wednesday, the crowd kicked back with everything from martinis to beer while several people enjoyed a late-night dinner on the patio. Music from Christina Aguilera and Maroon 5 hummed through the speakers. “It’s more of a lounge atmosphere here,” Heidi Brenna, 33, of Chandler says of former Suns player Dan Majerle’s bar, which sits in the former Rockfish digs at Chandler Fashion Center. “I think the other bar seems more geared around guys, whereas women are more welcome here. And there’s a big patio. I love that. The Phoenix Majerle’s doesn’t have that.” The 5,000-square-foot bar features two plush lounge areas, a fireplace and 18 high-definition LCD TVs. It also boasts a bocce ball court and full food and cocktail menu — drinks range from $7 to $10 — with offerings such as the Majerle Mojito, White Chocolate Martini, Cucumber Mist and Dirty Millionaire Martini. Menu items include a variety of pizzas (Buffalo Chicken Pizza, Bacon & Bleu), paninis (California Chicken, Deli Medley), burgers (Mama Majerle’s Burger, Suns Melt) and sandwiches (Sir Charles Chicken Sandwich, The Rajun Cajun). Lucas Foster says that the Phoenix Majerle’s pales in comparison to the Chandler location. “This one has a better hanging-out vibe” says Foster, 21, of Mesa. “It’s definitely an easier commute and it’s more open.” Craig LeCoste agrees. “This one is way better,” says LeCoste, 25, of Chandler. “The menu is bigger. I can see this being more of a club after dark and the people are better looking. Hopefully this is the start of more nightlife to come in Chandler. We need it.” Majerle’s Sports Grill, 3095 W. Chandler Blvd., Chandler, is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. (480) 899-7999. Contact Kelly Wilson by email, or phone (480) 898-5691 |
