Entries will be judged by a panel of experts, with winners anointed at a special public screening in March. Interested parties can visit the Almost Famous website at thea3f.net. But, wait — there's more. If you're a watcher more than a doer, Staats is exhibiting 17 non-competition short films on Wednesday, February 13, and Thursday, February 14, in an event dubbed "the International Short Film Festival." The slate includes films from Canada, the Netherlands and Italy, in addition to the world premier of "Sympathetic Details," a film by Benjamin Busch, star of the acclaimed HBO series "The Wire." Busch will attend the festival and host a Q&A following the screening. The International Short Film Festival runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. both nights at the AMC Arizona 24 Theaters in Phoenix (565 N. 3rd Street). Tickets are $6 per program or $15 for an all-evening pass. The entrance fee for the 24 Hour Challenge is $50. Contact Craig Outhier by email, or phone (480) 898-5683 |
