Movie critic Craig Outhier's irreverent guide to the best and worst of what's now playing in theaters. This week: "Shine a Light" is bright, but "Leatherheads" still fumbles.

1. “Shine a Light”: HEAR the music. SEE the stars. SMELL the Everclear on Keith Richard’s breath. At the Tempe Imax.
2. “Snow Angels”: Touted as Kate Beckinsale’s best role to date. Whatever. I’d watch her peel potatoes. Exclusive at the Harkins Camelview.
3. ”The Bank Job”: Down-and-dirty British caper ranks with the best of Guy Ritchie (“Snatch”).
4. “Run Fatboy Run”: In the interest of full disclosure, I must admit that my colleagues are by and large reaming it. My take: It’s a hoot!
5. “Nim’s Island”: Jodie Foster’s first bona fide family movie since “Freaky Friday” waaaaay back in 1974. | | |
1. “Leatherheads”: Screenwriter Rick Reilly better not quit his day job. Oh, whoops, he already did.
2. ”Married Life”: Quite a feat, to take a cast this great — including Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson — and train it to suck eggs.
3. ”21”: If this fictionalized pile of horse tripe is the nation’s No. 1 movie ... well, it must be April.
4. “Stop Loss”: Jay Leno asks one-time soap star Ryan Phillippe to flash his “best gay look.” He has another kind?
5. “Smart People”: Smart, sure. Interesting, no.
