| Headliners Judas Priest bring 'Metal Masters' tour to Valley | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| By Chris Hansen Orf, Get Out | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| May 9, 2008 | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Formed in the 1968 in Birmingham, England, Judas Priest (led by vocalist Rob Halford and guitarists K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton) made black leather a part of the metal band wardrobe and scored hits in the States with “Breakin’ the Law” and “Livin’ After Midnight” from their seminal 1980 album “British Steel” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’” from their 1983 disc “Screaming for Vengeance.” Heaven And Hell features the Ronnie James Dio version of Black Sabbath, who formed after Sabbath singer Ozzy Osbourne left the band in the late ‘70s. Named after their first Black Sabbath album together, released in 1980, the band reformed as Heaven And Hell in 2007 and toured to coincide with the release of the compilation disc “Black Sabbath: The Dio Years.” Motorhead was formed in 1975 in England by bassist/singer Lemmy Kilmister and is considered a pioneering thrash metal band, and while never attaining the commercial success of Judas Priest or Black Sabbath, the band’s tune “Ace of Spades” is a metal classic. Thrash metal band Testament is also on the “Metal Masters” bill. Tickets for the Valley show, priced from $31-$81, go on sale Saturday, May 17, at the Cricket Wireless Pavilion box office, all Ticketmaster outlets and online at ticketmaster.com and livenation.com.
