| Brooks & Dunn and ZZ Top to co-headline Valley show | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| By Chris Hansen Orf, Get Out | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| May 9, 2008 | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Brooks & Dunn (singer/songwriters Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn) have had a virtual stronghold on the “duo of the year” awards in both the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music organizations for more than a decade, scoring such No. 1 country hits as “Brand New Man” (1991), “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” (1992), “Red Dirt Road” (2003) and “Play Something Country” (2005) and selling millions of albums worldwide. ZZ Top began as a boogie blues/rock trio (consisting of guitarist/singer Billy Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard) in Houston, TX in 1969 and broke through nationally with their third album, 1973’s “Tres Hombres,” which contained the FM radio hits “La Grange,” “Waitin’ for the Bus” and “Jesus Just Left Chicago.” Beginning with their 1983 album “Eliminator,” the band began infusing their sound with drum machines (to the chagrin of some of their original core audience) and made several popular videos (for the singles “Sharp Dressed Man,” “Legs” and “Gimme All Your Lovin’”) that featured the newly grown, chest length beard of Gibbons and Hill and Gibbons’ 1933 Ford Coupe hot rod. Tickets for the Cricket Pavilion show, priced from $34-$65, go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, May 16, at the Cricket Wireless Pavilion box office, all Ticketmaster outlets and online at ticketmaster.com and livenation.com For more info visit livenation.com.
