On Thursday, the ASU Department of Dance will kick off the 2003-2004 Herberger Mainstage Season with a performance of "September Concert" a showcase of choreography by four international students.

The performance includes seven different dances. Each work fuses Asian culture and dance styles such as Yin Yang's "Phoenix and Peony" and "Sketch." Yang, an internationally recognized Chinese fan dancer, combines modern movement and folk dance in her works.

Or like "Broken Woman II," by Korean graduate student Min Kim, which mixes ballet and modern dance to express grief.

Siew Kong Wong hails from Malaysia and focuses on computer-mediated art. His solo performance piece, "The Grand Enigma," blends video images with dance.

And Yeongwen Lee, a junior choreography student from Singapore, will perform "Lost" a piece inspired by his experiences in America.

Catch the performance 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Dance Theatre, PE East 132, 551 E. Orange St., ASU campus, Tempe. Tickets: $5-$14. Info: .
