East Valley's best sandwich contestant #4:
Roasted sweet potato sandwich at Wildflower Bread Co.

The sandwich priced at $6.49 was nominated by both Kristen Winer of Tempe and Pat Mau of Mesa. Served on herb focaccia bread, the sandwich includes thick slices of roasted sweet potatoes, fig and rosemary spread, mozzarella and baby arugula drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette. The sandwich comes with Wildflowers tomato bread salad.

Our five taste-testers checked out the sandwich, rating the bread, fixings and main ingredients (in this case, the sweet potatoes) from 1 to 10, with 10 being the best. Our testers also evaluated the sandwichs maneuverability that is, how well the ingredients stayed between the bread and how messy it was to eat along with the overall taste and value.

For their part, Winer and Mau will each receive a Get Out T-shirt; if Wildflowers roasted sweet potato sandwich comes out on top at the end of our 10-week sandwich extravaganza, theyll receive fabulous lunch-themed prizes.

Jeff: Im more of a ham and cheese kind of guy, but the sweet potato sandwich was the most interesting and exotic thus far. Even still, sweet potatoes just werent enough to hold down the fort.

Matt: A sweet potato sandwich? Sorry, not for me.
Points: 33

Sally: I was very apprehensive about this sandwich but was pleasantly surprised! It tasted very healthy and would be an excellent choice for vegetarians.
Points: 52

Adrienne: Between the potatoes and focaccia bread, I nearly went into carb overload. I would enjoy this sandwich more if the potatoes were swapped with turkey.
Points: 38

Crystal: Too sweet and too messy. The potatoes were a poor meat substitute.
