Sweet deals to be found at Bostonís, kitchen open late

Get Out

The spot: Boston’s Gourmet Pizza, 1026 S. Gilbert Road, Gilbert

Happy hour: 3 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday and 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday

The vibe:
This G-town restaurant looks almost identical to its sister location in Tempe, which we often frequent late at night after club-hopping. Television sets throughout the place, including three flat-screens perched above the bar, are showing a football game. About 20 people, ages 20 to 70, mill in the bar area early on a Tuesday night. One couple engage in some over-the-top P.D.A. action, while an elderly man sitting with his son behind us bangs his fork on the table to the beat of the music.

The food deals: Half off all appetizers except wings

The drink deals:
$1 PBRs, $2 Dos Equis and $2.99 margaritas

The review: We’re thrilled to find some unique appetizer options on this menu, but they don’t meet our expectations. The alfredo chicken dip — thick chicken breast bites smothered in a creamy alfredo sauce — sounds tasty but isn’t. The dip is extremely bland, and even the tortilla chips are flavorless. The stuffed mushroom caps, which are filled with warm cream cheese, spinach, artichoke hearts, shrimp and garlic, come in a large order and are served with a side of golden garlic toast. They’re super-cheesy and have a strong aftertaste, which we could do without. The ravioli cheese bites, which are stuffed with jalapeños and cheese, come with a spicy salmon-colored chipotle dip and is the best appetizer we order.

The inside scoop:
The restaurant and bar — which stays open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and delivers — offers a nice hangover cure on Sundays: $2 Bloody Marys throughout the day.
