World Series trophy? Check. Nationally ranked college football team? Check. Fox Sports Grill? Check.
A fusion of food, fun and football, Fox Sports Grill, located in the Scottsdale Promenade at Scottsdale Road and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, opens its doors Friday.
The first eatery of its kind in the country, the upscale bar and grill which serves everything from barroom favorites to gourmet salads and wood-fired pizzas is brought to you by the same New York-based network that employs the NFLs most colorful commentators: James Brown, Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long.
Featuring a contemporary American menu including ribs ($20), burgers ($8.50) and grilled chicken sandwiches ($9), the grill also boasts a cigar lounge, an outdoor putting green, a billiards room and a state-of- the-art sports bar that can show up to 15 different games at a time. Also, all of the TVs are confined to the bar, so families dont have to compete with screaming fans when discussing the days events over dinner.
We basically wanted to take our TV audience and find a way to engage them in a new and different way, says Bill Freeman, CEO of Fox Sports Grill.
We wanted to transform them from an audience to guests. And I think what weve come up with is a destination for local sports fans, a place where people can connect with sports and entertainment and have a great experience.
As for the grills East Valley ZIP code, Freeman says the 18,000-square-foot Scottsdale site, which has capacity for 300 people, was tops in the country from the start.
It was any easy decision Phoenix is just a great sports market. Fox has a relationship with both colleges and all four professional teams. Plus, we were able to find a great piece of real estate in the heart of Scottsdale.
We definitely feel like well be able to carve out a niche for ourselves in Scottsdale, continues Freeman, who adds that the second Fox Sports Grill is slated to open in Irvine, Calif., next year.
Now, if we could just do something about that missing Super Bowl championship ...
