If you've ever thought, "dining out would be so much more enjoyable without all these other diners," several East Valley eateries have been reading your mind. These restaurants offer private dining rooms - capable of accommodating small or large groups - that are separated from their main dining areas.

Some are luxurious and ornate, others comfortably homey, but
all offer relief from the noshing hoi polloi for a dining experience
exclusive to family, friends or business associates.

All of the restaurants Get Out spoke with require reservations for their
private rooms and encourage patrons to tailor menus with management for exclusive gatherings. Prices vary and hinge on factors such as food and drink, number in party and day of the week desired. Some require deposits;call specific restaurants for more information.

Here's a sampling - in egalitarian alphabetical order - of some of what's
available for private dining . . .

Barcelona
900 N. 54th St., Chandler,
and 15440 Greenway-Hayden Loop, Scottsdale,

Barcelona serves Mediterranean- Southwest cuisine at both of its
locations. The Chandler restaurant features the Wine Room for private dining with a capacity of 25 people. It boasts floor-to-ceiling mirrors, hardwood floors and a fireplace. The Scottsdale location features several different private rooms including the Barcelona Room, which has a private entrance, floor-to- ceiling mirrors, capacity for 70 and audiovisual capabilities.

Approximate price range: $35-$65 per person, no minimum
bill must be met.

Bloom
8877 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale,

Scottsdale's Bloom features "New American cuisine with an Asian and
European flair." The restaurant's private dining room holds up to 20 people and features glass and black leather decor and a plasma TV screen.

Private diners' bill must run to a
minimum of $800.

Eddie V's Edgewater Grill

Eddie V's is a seafood house that also prides itself on its steaks.
The restaurant's private dining room holds up to 35 people and is shaped
like a quarter of a pie. It boasts a glass wall that overlooks a park area
with lighted foliage.

minimum of $1,000.

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse
& Wine Bar

6333 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale,

A steakhouse serving "meat and potatoes American food" along with
seafood, veal and lamb, Fleming's can configure private dining rooms for
groups of 20 to 70 people. The rooms feature a rich wood panel decor and high ceilings.

Approximate price range:
Private diners' bill must run to a
minimum of $1,500 for a party of 20, to $3,000 for a party of 50.

Kazimierz World Wine Bar

Serving wine from around the globe, Kazimierz offers food dishes
specifically designed to go with their vinos. The wine bar's Round Room
resembles an Old- World wine cellar with stone walls and wooden beams and seats up to 50 people. Kazimierz hosts wine dinners in the room Friday and Saturday nights featuring five-course and five-wine meals; other nights it is available for private dining.

Approximate price range:
Wine dinners cost $50 per person,
excluding tax and gratuity. Private dining costs are roughly the same, and no minimum bill must be met.

Mastro's Steak House
8852 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale,

Mastro's calls itself a traditional American steakhouse and can
configure private dining rooms for groups of 14 to 100. The decor harks back to the mid- 20th century with a heavy emphasis on wood and stone. Private dining patrons may order off the regular menu if they desire.

Entrees run $20-$79, no minimum
bill must be met.

Old Town Tortilla Factory
6910 E. Main St., Scottsdale,

A former home converted to a restaurant, Old Town Tortilla Factory
serves Southwestern cuisine. Its private dining room is decorated - as is
the whole of the restaurant - in Southwestern style and holds up to 24
people. Groups of 19 or more must work out their menu with management in advance.

Entrees run $10-$26, no minimum
bill must be met.

Rancho de Tia Rosa

Serving Mexican food and specializing in Mexican seafood dishes,
Rancho de Tia Rosa offers two private dining rooms, both decorated in
Mexican style. The Yellow Room seats up to 45 and boasts festive tile-top
tables, chandeliers and its own private sound system. The Pink Room holds up to 20 and is similar to its bigger sister but lacks the private sound system.

Approximate price range:
Entrees range from $9 to $13, and
there is an hourly charge for the rooms that varies depending on the season and the day of the week.

Richardson's Cuisine of New Mexico
1582 E. Bethany Home Road, Phoenix,
Richardson's serves New Mexican cuisine and seafood. Its private
dining room is adjacent to Dick's Hideaway, Richardson's takeout restaurant that is separate from the main eatery. Decorated with a wine cellar look, it features its own lunch and dinner menus, a fireplace and seating for 25.

Approximate price range: Private diners' bill must run to a
minimum of $500 for dinner, to $150 for lunch.

Roaring Fork
7243 E. Camelback Road, Scottsdale,

Roaring Fork serves American Western cuisine. Its private dining
room is separated by a curtain from the main dining area and boasts its
chef's awards on its walls. It seats up to 25 people, who may order from the restaurant's regular menu if they desire.
