Dinner and a movie doesn’t have to be dull. This week’s “It’s a Date” offers a fun twist on the standard food ’n’ flick outing. Set in west Chandler, this itinerary is sure to add some flavor to your evening. (Think “An Affair to Remember” instead of “A Guy Thing.”)

Copper Canyon Brewing & Ale House
(5945 W. Ray Road, Suite 13, Chandler, )
Far more cozy and welcoming than its strip-mall location would indicate, this west Chandler favorite is always hopping. In addition to being a great place to grab a beer before the movie (Copper Canyon’s selection extends far beyond Coors and Bud Light), the restaurant also boasts a mouthwatering dinner menu, from seafood to steaks. And because Copper Canyon is literally a hop, skip and a jump from Madstone Theater, there’s no way you’ll get caught in traffic on your way there.

Madstone Theater
(5835 W. Ray Road, Chandler, )
Tired of bad teen movies and movie theaters overrun by, well, teens? Then it’s about time you checked out Chandler’s newest theater, Madstone. Located just east of Kyrene Road in the space formerly occupied by an AMC theater, Madstone specializes primarily in classic and independent films (in other words, you won’t find “Just Married” playing here). This week, the hip, upscale theater will screen “Oliver!,” “The Brothers McMullen” and “An Affair to Remember.” Tickets are $4.50-$8.

Cold Stone Creamery
(7131 W. Ray Road, Suite 27, Chandler, )
What better way to follow up a cool flick than with a cone from Cold Stone? In addition to such tantalizing homemade ice cream offerings as double Dutch chocolate, cheesecake, amaretto, coffee and peanut butter, this Valley-based chain recently unveiled a new flavor — cake batter. Mixed with your choice of toppings, from the ordinary (M&M’s, Snickers and cookie dough) to the extraordinary (pumpkin pie filling), a Cold Stone cone is the perfect ending to a delicious evening.
