![]() Enjoy funky vibe, cheap eats at Mickey's By KELLY WILSON Get Out May 8, 2003 The spot: Mickey's Hangover, 4312 N. Brown Ave., Scottsdale The vibe: Old furniture ranging from a cushy gold couch to a wooden picnic table to Fender bar stools add a unique flavor to the patio at Mickey's Hangover. Music such as the Ataris, Pearl Jam, the Ramones and the Hives blast through the speakers at this happening happy hour hot spot where 20- to 40-year-olds mix it up over cheap eats and cool drinks. Happy hour: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday The deal: Half-off all food (from entrees to appetizers), beer (bottles and drafts), well and wine drinks. Spotlight eats: We tasted the "this ain't no regular" spinach and artichoke dip and they're not kidding about the name. The appetizer is served with large baked tortilla chips and a Southwestern dip that oozes flavor. We also tried the Santa Fe green chili chicken rolls (which came with a sweet jalapeño dipping sauce) and a mountain of cheese fries (a monstrous order of french fries smothered in melted cheese) that came with an order of ketchup, ranch dressing and cheese (apparently, you can never have too much cheese). Best-kept secret: The bar shows movies inside at 9 p.m. Mondays with free popcorn. Info: Mickey's Hangover is open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Call or go to www.mickeys hangover.com for more information. Happy Hunting spotlights a different East Valley happy hour each week. If you have a suggestion, e-mail it to Kelly Wilson at . |
