Nearly everyone is throwing some sort of New Year’s Eve celebration to ring in 2004. In an effort to make life easier on you, we highlighted a few of our favorite picks for the holiday season.

Bars and clubs

Anderson’s Fifth Estate
6820 E. Fifth Ave., Scottsdale,
Anderson’s will rock in 2004 with their Rockin’ New Year’s Eve celebration. DJ Larry Mac and DJ Dan will spin music in two rooms — one will feature alt-rock music and the other will feature retro alternative. The club will offer hourly drink and shot specials. There will also be a champagne toast and party favors. 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. $10, which includes a complimentary bottle of champagne.

Axis/Radius
7340 E. Indian Plaza, Scottsdale,
The dance club will host a Club Rubber Pimp ’N Ho New Year’s Eve Party that will feature DJs spinning a mix of hip-hop, progressive and house music. 8 p.m. $50 to $100 for VIP admission. Admission includes party favors (naughty trinkets and noisemakers) and a champagne toast to bring in the New Year.

Cabana’s Beach Bar & Grill
6810 E. Fifth Ave., Scottsdale,
The beach bar will present Kegs on the Beach and start the party early at 11 a.m. They’ll offer $2 keg beer and $4 burgers and brats throughout the day. During the evening, they’ll break out portable hot tubs and have a champagne toast at midnight. The cover is free before 8 p.m. and $10 thereafter.

Devil’s Martini
4175 N. Goldwater Blvd., Scottsdale, and 10825 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale,
The bar will host Soiree, an upscale event, which will feature complimentary food, party favors and a champagne toast. The club suggests that patrons dress in black. 8 p.m. $50.

The north Scottsdale location will host Premiere — its first New Year’s Eve bash. Like its downtown sister, the bar will offer complimentary food, party favors and a champagne toast. 8 p.m. $75.

Dos Gringos Trailer Park
216 E University Drive, Tempe,
There will be a $2 Corona New Year’s toast along with the usual Dos Gringos festivities. 7 p.m. Free.

Downtown Tempe

Throughout Mill Avenue and Tempe Beach Park,
Tempe will host its annual family-oriented Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Block Party — which USA Today deemed one of the top 10 places in the nation to ring in the New Year. More than 150,000 people are expected to be on hand for this event, which will feature carnival rides, fireworks, interactive games, food and beverage booths and live music by Live, BTO and Jackyl on the Tempe Beach Park stage. 5 p.m. $10-$15. Tickets can be purchased for $10 with a VIP card at Fry’s Food and Drug Stores.

Downtown Scottsdale on Craftsman Court

Between Third and Fifth avenues from Scottsdale Road to Marshall Way,

Scottsdale will host the Ultimate Block Party, its first ever New Year’s Eve extravaganza, this year. Alien Ant Farm, — best known for their Michael Jackson cover of "Smooth Criminal" — Valley rockers Trik Turner and cover band the Chadwicks will perform at the 21-and-over event. There will also be eight DJs, comedians from the Comedy Spot, food and beverage booths. 5 p.m. $20 in advance. $25 at the gate. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketweb.com. Admission will include entrance into Acme Bar &
Grill, Dos Gringos, Next and Noyz.

Kazimierz World Wine Bar
7137 E. Stetson Drive, Scottsdale,
Patrons can enjoy live music by Doc Jones & Company. There will be complimentary appetizers and a midnight toast. 7 p.m. $20-$400. The $100-$400 packages include food and beverage credit.

Margarita Rocks
410 S. Mill Ave., Suite D101, Tempe,
The college-oriented dance club will feature a DJ and dancing. 6 p.m. $25-$50. The $25 package includes admission to the Tempe Block Party, a champagne toast and party favors. The $50 package includes the same features along with a multi-course buffet and second-level seating from the balcony patio where you can watch cover bands perform.

Mickey’s Hangover
4310 N. Brown Ave., Scottsdale,
Mickey’s will host Funk Me, I’m Famous, a groovy New Year’s Eve shindig, DJs will spin funk and soul fused with old school. The bar will also offer half off their entire menu until 10 p.m. Starts at 8 p.m. $10.

The Pussycat Lounge
4426 N. Saddlebag Trail, Scottsdale,
The Scottsdale hot spot will feature a complimentary champagne table with finger foods until 10 p.m. Table reservations are encouraged. They will also hand out a copy of their new CD — a mix of formatted PCL spins — to customers. 7 p.m. $10.

Sanctuary
7340 E. Shoeman Lane, Scottsdale,
Ring in 2004 with the Rat Pack, an old-school Italian mobster-themed New Year’s celebration. 8 p.m. $30 per person or $50 per couple. Cover includes party favors.

San Felipe’s Cantina
20825 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale,
The north Scottsdale bar will say goodbye to 2003 with a champagne toast and party favors. There will also be a DJ and dancing. Patrons can celebrate the new year by dancing on the bar — a popular club custom. 9 p.m. Free.

The Scottsdale lounge will host A Private Affair, hosted by DJ Steve Kushnir and friends, and feature a Tapas Style Pacific Rim-inspired menu and complimentary champagne. DJs will spin house and rock beats. 7 p.m. $40.

Suede
7307 E. Indian Plaza, Scottsdale
Suede will bring in the New Year with a retro-disco celebration called Boogie Nights, which will include a Korbel Champagne Split, party favors and a DJ. 7 p.m. $20. The club is also offering dinner packages that feature entrees from a special New Year’s menu.

Sugar Daddy’s
3102 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale,
The Scottsdale bar will host a New Year’s Eve Snowball Bash that will include live music, a DJ on the patio, snow machines and ice sculptures. 5 p.m. $2.

Jeff Dunham and Friends
Tempe Improv, 930 E. University Drive, ).
Comic ventriloquist Jeff Dunham and rock comic Mark Eddie will perform during this holiday event. Choose from three different show packages, which include: Show and party favors only; four-course gourmet dinner, champagne, party favors, and East coast countdown; or the West Coast countdown package, which includes show, fruit and cheese platter, party favors and balloon drop. 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Wed. $40-$85.

Restaurants

The Cowboy

Enjoy filet mignon and lobster during The Cowboy’s New Year’s Eve celebration. In addition to a three-course meal, diners will be treated to a champagne toast and dancing. Seatings run from 5 to 10 p.m.; reservations are required. Cost is $41.95 per person (plus tax and gratuity).

Cowboy Ciao
7133 E. Stetson Drive, Scottsdale,
Send off 2003 in style at Cowboy Ciao. The restaurant will offer two seatings; at 6:30 p.m. diners will enjoy a four-course meal and at 9 p.m., they’ll be treated to seven delectable courses. Cost is $65 for the earlier sitting and $120 for the later sitting. Reservations are required.

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar
20753 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale,
Ring in 2004 with a four-course meal on the patio at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar. The 9:30 p.m. dinner includes wine, a champagne toast and live music; cost is $125 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Reservations are required.

Jilly’s American Grill
7301 E. Butherus Drive, Scottsdale,
Live it up at Jilly’s American Grill. In addition to a four-course meal, guests can enjoy music from T.A.T.E. beginning at 9:30 p.m. Cost for the meal is $29.95 per person, with seatings starting at 6 p.m. Reservations are required.

Lantana Grille
7677 N. 16th St., Phoenix,
Enjoy Southwestern eats — from grilled red chili-glazed veal to charbroiled beef tenderloin — at Lantana Grille at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort. Cost for the first seating, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., is $60 per person (plus tax and gratuity); cost for the second seating, from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., is $75 per person. Reservations are required.

Lon’s at the Hermosa

Enjoy a four-course meal, including grilled Texas black buck antelope and other exotic eats, at Lon’s at the Hermosa. Cost for the first seating, from 6 to 7 p.m. is $75 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and $125 per person for the second seating, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Reservations are required.

Michael’s at the Citadel

Enjoy lamb chops and pesto-roast at Michael’s at the Citadel. The 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. seating is $75 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and the 8 to 10 p.m. seating is $125 per person. The evening will include live music, a balloon drop at midnight and a champagne toast. Reservations are required.

Nuevo Latino
6902 E. Greenway Parkway, Scottsdale,
Enjoy New Year’s Eve at Nuevo Latino, located at The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa. The first seating, at 6 p.m., features a three-course dinner, while diners at the 8 p.m. seating will be treated to four courses. (Tax and a 21 percent gratuity will be automatically added to each check.) Cost is $60 per person for the first seating and $85 per person for the later seating.

Orange Tree Golf Resort
10601 N. 56th St., Scottsdale,
Party for a good cause at the New Year’s Eve FUNdraiser at the Orange Tree Golf Resort. The event — which benefits Habitat for Humanity — will feature a gourmet dinner, wine, champagne, party favors, fireworks and music from Vanessa Florez; festivities kick off at 7 p.m. Cost is $400 per couple ($200 of which is tax deductible). Reservations are required, as attendance is limited to 125 couples.

Rawhide

Rawhide will host a family-friendly celebration beginning at 8 p.m. Guests will enjoy cowboy eats, from prime rib to barbecue chicken with all the fixings, along with live country music and a champagne toast at midnight. Cost is $49.95 per person (plus tax and gratuity); reservations are required.

Sea Saw

Get your sake on at Sea Saw’s New Year’s Eve celebration. Chef Nobu Fukada will prepare a nine-course tasting menu paired with premium sake, wines and champagne. Seatings run from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Cost is $200 per person and reservations are required.

T. Cook’s
5200 E. Camelback Road, Phoenix,
Dine on Colorado loin of lamb, grilled beef tenderloin and other delights at T. Cook’s at the Royal Palms Resort and Spa. Cost for the first seating, from 6:15 to 7 p.m. is $125 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and $150 per person for the second seating, from 9:15 to 10 p.m. Pianist Dwight Brewer will tickle the ivories throughout the evening. Reservations are required.

Ballroom Gala

New Year’s Eve Dinner-Dance

This dressy dance for singles will feature a DJ, dancing to oldies and soft rock, a light buffet, nonalcoholic drinks and party favors. 8 to 12:30 p.m. Wed. $20.

Multi-Parish Singles New Year’s Eve Dance
Embassy Suites Hotel, 1515 N. 44th St., Ahwatukee Foothills,
This semi-formal gala New Year’s Eve party for singles includes live music by Rhythm Edition Band, mixer dances, door prizes, hors d’oeuvres and a breakfast buffet. Tickets must be purchased before Dec. 28. 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Wed. $55.

New Year’s Eve Disco Dance Party
Fort McDowell Casino, Arizona Highway 87 and Fort McDowell Road, Fountain Hills,
L.A. dance band Platinum Groove will provide music during this huge, outdoor disco dance party. Inside the casino’s Lucky 7 Saloon, Todd Luxton and the Cadillacs will perform an Elvis tribute; food and drink specials will be offered all night long. 8 p.m. Wed. Free.

New Year’s Eve Family Desert Party

Davy Jones

Davy Jones, the diminutive and charming member of ’60s made-for-TV quartet the Monkees will entertain in two shows. 9:30 and 11:30 p.m. Free.

Cliff Castle Casino

The casino is celebrating the New Year with two Motown-themed parties and a fireworks display. Gift bags, commemorative champagne flute, party favors, and a session at the New Year’s Eve photo booth will also be offered. Must be 21 years to attend either party. 7 p.m. Wed. $10-$20.

A Broadway Christmas
