Do happy hour in style in Jetz's VIP Red Room

Do you want your posse to think you're a major power player in town? Then reserve the VIP Red Room (a hip and sleek hangout that is draped in red) during happy hour at Jetz Americana (10050 N. Scottsdale Road, #127, Scottsdale). The club, which normally rents the VIP room for $150, will waive the charge if you bring in a party of 15 or more.

Jetz hosts its happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday with $4.95 appetizers such as calamari, bruschetta, sirloin sliders and chicken satay, half-price well drinks and $5 select martinis. Call for more information.

Benefit will showcase local talent
Acts such as As Kids Laughing, Adam Panic, Dumb as Einstein, All for Rome, Greeley Estates, Shrinkport, Troy's Bucket, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Elsewhere, Drawing Down the Sun, A Division Of, Forfit, No Alternative, Not Quite Bernadette and Workshirt Wonder will pump up the volume at Nita's Hideaway (southwest corner of Price Road and Southern Avenue) during the Rock for Your Rights Benefit. The all-ages show, which benefits the Anti-Defamation League and Horizon High School student club, will kick off at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10. Call Nita's at for more information.

20/30 Club hosts Komics for Kids
The Active 20/30 Club of Scottsdale will host Komics for Kids this week at Monterra at WestWorld (16601 N. Pima Road, Scottsdale). Local comedian Mark Cordes will host the event, which will feature performances by stand-up comics Jack Mayberry, Tammy Pescatelli and Ron Morey and a performance by local rockers East of the Sun. There will also be a drawing for $1,000. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the event begins at 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $30 and proceeds will benefit the Association for Supportive Child Care. HurryDate hosts two events at Six
With successful programs such as "The Bachelor" and "Joe Millionaire," which are making mass dating popular, it's really no wonder that speed dating has become such a phenomenon. HurryDate sets 25 people up on a series of three-minute dates in one night.

HurryDate will host two parties this week at Six (7316 E. Stetson Drive, Scottsdale). The first event, designed for women ages 30-40 and men ages 35-45, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The second event, aimed at men and women ages 25-35, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Doors open at 7 p.m. for both of these events and HurryDating starts promptly at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $35 and the bar will offer drink specials such as $4 wine, $4 well drinks and $3 domestic beers. Register online at www.hurrydate.com.
